After a sluggish first half, the Hawks outscored the Cougars 22 to 6 in the second half. Zach Ballard led the scoring with 9 points in a very balanced attack, with 10 of 12 team members scoring points. The victory was the 4th in a row for Gainesville. With their backs up against the wall and trailing by 8 points heading into the 4th quarter, the Hawks made a great comeback and earned a thrilling come from behind win. Keaton Simmons had a big steal and the go ahead basket with 4 seconds left, and Nick Mathews iced it on the free throw line with less than one second to play.
Thomas Rigney led the Hawks with 7 points, and Mathews added 6. Eli McKnight contributed with a couple great defensive plays to help seal the victory.

The Hawks won their 2nd straight game on Thursday, taking down Stonewall by the score of 35-27. Thomas Rigney led the offense with13 points. Helping in the scoring column were Jake Girard (6pts) and Zach Ballard (5pts). The Hawks start a 2 game home stand Monday when they take on Masteller. Come on out and support the boys! The Hawks earned their first victory of the season against the Cougars due in large part to their swarming defense. The Gainesville trapping defense caused several turnovers and limited scoring opportunities, holding Manassas Park to only 6 points!
Offensively, Thomas Rigney led the Hawks with 8 points, while Zach Ballard and Nick Mathews chipped in with 5 points each.

The Hawks traveled to Bull Run yesterday and gave the defending champions a run for their money! Improving drastically from game one, Gainesville knocked on the door multiple times, but just couldn't manage to take the lead against the highly skilled Eagles. Leading the offensive effort was Thomas Rigney who scored 12 points. Zach Ballard added 8, and Jake Girard 4. The Hawks look to get in the win column next week when they travel to both Manassas Park and Stonewall. Come on out and support the boys! Game ResultsGainesville dropped their season opener to the visiting Parkside Panthers by the score of 43-33. After a very tight and competitive first half, Parkside came out in the 3rd quarter and scored the first 9 points. The Hawks battled until the final buzzer, but were unable to catch the athletic Panthers.
Leading a balanced Hawk offense was Nick Mathews (8 pts), Zach Ballard (7pts), Thomas Rigney (6 pts) and Bryce Lugent (6pts). Gainesville travels to Bull Run on Thursday to take on the defending champion Eagles at 4:45pm. Come out and support your team!
